Welcome to the big bad world of blogging!

Hello everyone and welcome to our classroom blog. This blog will serve as a weekly online journal entry. It will be a way to earn points for Language Arts class but SO much more. It will be a way for you to get your voice out there! Every week there will be a discussion topic/question posted by yours truly and it will be your job to respond. Your response may be in direct relation to the topic or may be a comment about another student's response. The topics will vary but your job will remain the same. Respond to the topic in as much detail as you find necessary and in as genuine a matter as possible!

In order to receive the credit you justly deserve, when you post make sure your full name is listed.
Happy Blogging.

FINAL BLOG POST FOR YOUR 8th GRADE YEAR

My goodness, where has the year gone?  I feel like a moment ago, I just met you all and you stared up at me while I introduced myself, trying to be funny, and none of you laughed- blank stares..Maybe you were nervous about starting 8th grade or a little overwhelmed. But not true anymore. Now you all DON'T stop talking and joking around and you are more comfortable in class than I could have imagined.

I am going to miss you all.

I will miss Conner's random history lessons and Ellis's questions. I will miss Kelly's filter-less thoughts about Reggie Bush and Ash's SHOWS (but I won't miss being scared on a daily basis). I will miss Vlad's dance moves and Carina's laugh. I will miss Wyatt invading my personal space and much more. I will miss Will's participation and help along with all the girls who volunteer on a regular basis. I will miss you all more than i can say but will save all that for a more appropriate time.

Use this YOUR FINAL BLOG as a reflection on the year-

1. What lesson or unit have you enjoyed and why?
2. What topic was the most interesting to you? Explain.
3.  What do you wish we learned more about?
4. What from class will you miss next year?

And anything else you want to reflect on, please do! Make this your LONGEST BLOG POST EVER!!!!

I am going to miss you all.

I will miss hearing "Debatable" on a daily basis. I will miss the constant talk of food from Scout. I will miss hearing 6-pack talk occasionally! I will miss how often you all help me out in class whether it is Malindi and Geddy reading or Raman and Sami passing out papers. I will miss all of you tons. In fact I will tell you all how much I will miss you when the time is right. For now, I want you to use this blog as a reflection on the year.

Blog #1 of TRI 3- 3/21-3/25

BLOCK 1/2 ONLY

I spent a great deal of the weekend thinking about the Internet Assembly. We have this assembly every year and every year it makes me think. I, as a mom, think about what the world will be like for my boys when they are in middle school. The tech and internet becomes crazier every day and I wonder how this will affect them. It scares me. I know that when I was a kid cyber bullying didn't exist, kids instead bullied through paper notes or by simply spreading word-of-mouth rumors.  What has remained the same is the cruelty. I wonder why people are still cruel and why this stuff still exists. What I do know is that you can make the change. Think back to the Rachel's Challenge Assembly- and starting a chain reaction of kindness.

For this blogpost- I want you to answer two questions:

1. What did the Internet assembly make you think about, or what surprising thing did you learn?
2. What can you do, name one specific thing, to change things or make a difference? (Think bullying, facebook, sexting, etc..)

BLOG #9 2/7-2/11

1/2 block only...

Let's start thinking about our BIG OLD RESEARCH PAPER. You get to pick the topic you will write about. The only requirement is that you research an issue in the Bill of Rights. Maybe you will write about banning the Death Penalty, or reducing gun control laws. Maybe you will research corporal punishment or maybe you will write about school uniforms. This is your choice but you must pick wisely, as you will be living with this topic for several weeks.

For this blog, I want you to brainstorm some topic choices and ask for feedback from the class. Your post must be two sentences minimum in length, but please return to respond to others!

Blog #8 1/31-2/4

BLOCK 1/ 2 ONLY:

When we read, The Treasure of Lemon Brown, we talked about things we cherish.
Tell your class 3 things you cherish or adore.  Describe in detail what they are and why you cherish them.

My example: I treasure and cherish my family more than I can say, I have two boys and a husband who mean the world to me, not to mention my mother and sister and even my grandmother- they are the most important people in my lives.  Another "thing" I cherish are my friends. My girlfriends are such a huge part of my life and I cannot imagine my life without them. Finally, I treasure the collection of old letters i have kept.  Some of the letters are ones I wrote as a kid, which I find so cute. Some are letters my parents wrote when they were young. I think that letter-writing tells so much about a person and what they are like at that moment in time, like a snapshot. I love reading them and Riley loves me reading them to him!

Block 1 /2 only!

So... tell me all about your vacation. What did you do? Fun times? Bad times? What do you wish you had done?  Let's swap stories.

I don't want to talk about the bad parts of my break, but I did take both my boys to DISNEYLAND on one of the most crowded days in  history- we still had fun. I love nothing more than running from ride to ride and eating all the sweets at the Magic Kingdom! MMMMMM.
