  1. I bealive that slavery is the worst thing in the world. Slaves dont deserve to be treated like poop. Everyone sould have the same rights. We were not created to have different rights or be treated different because of the way we look, the color of our skin, our personality. Life was given to us to be lived and not to be treated like were nothing, our life is our life, we sould all be treated equl.

  2. All I really know about slavery is that it is a terrable thing that still happens in some places today and that America got rid of slavery after the union won the civil war

  3. Hmm..slavery. What I know about slavery is that it happened a while ago in the United States where people (mainly men) used African Americans as slaves to work on their property. Many of the slaves were treating very badly and had poor living conditions. I also know that during the civil war, the North was aginst slavery, and the South was for it.

  4. I remember that we read part of a book about slavery and I felt really bad about how the slaves were treated. How they treated the babies is horrifying and I wish that slavery was never started. The idea that people were treated completly different just because of their skin color? How could people think that you could own a person? I think that slavery was started because people are lazy and they don't want to do any work, and maybe because all of the people that wanted slavery had low self esteem and wanted to take advantage of people to feel better about themselves. Anyway I felt really bad after reading "To be a Slave" I still don't know how people could be so cruel to others.

  5. When most people think about slavery they think of America when slaves were traded, sometimes illegally, for farming but it really originated thousands and thousands of years ago. So long ago in fact that nobody knows an exact date. I assume we're going to talk about American slavery though. Slaves were generally African American people taken from their homes and sold without any rights to do work for others against their will. It was a terrible part of American history since we all deserve equal rights especially since their rights were deprived of them just because of where they came from.

  6. Slavery was a terrible thing that happened in the past history. It was mainly focus on the African Americans. They were property, they weren't even known as a person. It was a tragic thing. Many people use African men to do the heavy work and women to do the easy work except they were use to give labor to the white men. The south was mainly where a lot of slavery happened. I can't remember at the moment, but in class I'll elaborate more.

  7. All I know about slavery is it was started around the 1600's (for America at least) and slaves were used for farm work, cleaning, and other labor and they were counted as property not people. In America there were mainly black slaves because they were the most strongest and hard working. Slaves were brought to America in the middle passage which was the trip from Africa where the slaves were taken from and brought to America and from there they were sold off to bidders which usually separated families. Slavery finally ended in 1865 but even though there was no slavery there was still racism and segregation.

  8. What i know about slavery is that Americans went to Africa and convinced the African Americans that if they go to America they would be free and have their own land, during their trip from Africa to America they mistreated them badly, and if the women had babys on board with them they would throw them into the ocean. When they arrived to America they would sell them into slavery. They worked for Americans and whipped them if they didn't obey their orders. Slavery was horrible, the whites thought that the blacks were not human beings and that they should not have rights like they did, they misteated them because of their skin color and were very racist. It's very sad to know how cruel and racist The United States used to be. Before they did all of that they should of put themselves in their shoes, how it felt to be lied to that if the go to America they would be free, and believe them board a ship and go with them, and the women to have their babys thrown into the ocean because they were "useless". Having to be whipped and starved if they did not do the orders of their master. Wouldn't that be bad? feel bad? being taken away form their family and homes, and being mistreated and made fun of because of their skin color. They should of thought of that before doing such a dumb thing.

  9. First of all- Slavery is HORRIBLE!!!!! It was forced them do their work that we didn't want to do. When I watched Amistad, it was a good movie becasue of the facts but it was even more terrible because it actually happened to people and teh facts were true! I tell my parents that I do so much work and I'm not a slave, but truely the work we all do is nothing compared to what the real slaves had to do! Slavery could possibly be the worst decission ever made, the best ones were getting rid of it and those people having the same rights as whites.
    P.S. I totally agree with Bronte

  10. Slavery in America, hmmm. It's weird to say. It's so many different things. But for an Amercian, the reputation that that went on here, that that was our ancestry, our country. It's sort of emberessing. I think it was an awful thing that is still talked about today. If it had never happened, think about how much better it would be today.

  11. Kelly Says;

    We all know that slavery is a terrible thing that us americans have made in the past. But it just makes us learn from it. I know that slaves were brought over here in America to pick cotton, work in farms, work as hard labors, and basically do work we don't want to do. I hate the fact that there were known as "ANIMALS" in the american eyes. I love people who stand up in what they believe in, as in Rosa Parks she would stand up for what she believes in which is that jut because of the color God made you, that you should not go to school, ride in the back of the bus, or white out of a water fountain. I am so thankful there is no slavery today, because with it today I would not know any of the people I have in my life. I would be blinded by a side that I wouldn't know existed because I wouldn't be able to go to school with any other kids beside my race.

    “Life without the courage for death is slavery”

  12. As far as I know all blacks were slaves and were treated poorly as soon as they were caught. Many slaves escaped and were told to "follow the drinking gord" to Canada were they could live freely. And there was something about an underground railroad or something. and the civil war ended slavery.

  13. I don't know an awful lot about slavery other than the things we've learned in class and that it was abolished due to the civil war. My opinion is that none of this should have even happened. It's also sad that it took a civil war to realize that slavery maybe isn't the best idea in the world.

  14. Slavery is probably the worst thing that has ever happened in this country. I cant imagine what they were going through when they were working in fields. I watched Amistad and that was really terrible what the white men did to the slaves. That was only a movie too! Well, i believe that all people should be equal. There should be no reason why people should have worked for no money or nothing. Slavery should have never happened.

  15. Slavery was terrible, and people tried using women, children, and criminals as slaves, but they werent as good as blacks. Most slaves were either tricked, or brought here against their will. Slaves only counted as 3/4 of a person. Abraham Lincon banned slavery in the United States, which started the Civil War in 1861.

  16. in the beging of the year we wrote papers about the middle pasage, i remember feeling so horrible for all thoughs pepole and wishing there was somthing i could have done to help, but, there is nothing i can do which makes it that much more sad, since it was in the past there is nothing we can do to change it. When some pepole think of slavery they think of the choers there parent s make them do, and the long assignements given to them by teachers. But slavery was so horrible it cant be compared to laundry or math home work. Slaves worked non-stop for hours doing horrible tasks like picking hundreds of pounds of cotton. the worst part of slavery was that inocent pepole who's only difference from us was there skin color, lost there culture, familys and lives, for nothing.

  17. I think slavery is horrible. People are forces to do thongs they don't want to do. People shouldn't have people doing their chores. They should do it their self.
