I'm going to do mine on Stephen Arnold Douglas.
ReplyDeleteStephen Arnold Douglas was born on the 23rd of April 1813 in Brandon, Vermont. He had a large head and broad shoulders which helped adapt his new name "the little giant" . Arnold was nominated for US presidency in 1860 he didn't support the southern democrats who nominated John C. Breckenridge. He then offered his services to President Lincoln after the outbreak of the Civil War.

i am going to write about......... stonewall jackson (lets hope nobody has written about him yet). Stonewall's real name was Thomas Jonathan Jackson and he was a general for the south side (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!). His education was from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. he apparently had great battle tactics. he had a cold demeanor and strange quirks that made him unpopular around his peers. he had leadership also. his appearance was that he had blue eyes with brown hair. he was around 6 ft. jackson was polite with a gentle manner. he loved children. stonewall seemed dedicated (hence his name and its origins) and so far that is what i have been educated on him.
ReplyDeleteJefferson Davis was a leader for the confederate amry. he also had a role in the senate. I wouldnt want to meet him because he was kinda an angry man and wasnt very exicting. Davis was also charfged for treason.

John Wilkes Booth was a stage actor, although was, unfortunately, most famous for his assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. He was very much against the abolition of slavery, and was a Southern extremist. He had conspired with a group of other Southerners to kidnap Lincoln, but later decided to kill him. He was found twelve days later in Maryland, where he had fled. He was shot by a Union soldier.

My blog seems to not have come threw, but mine is on Alvin Cobb. He may not be famous to you, but he is to me. Alvin was a free african american (escaped via underground railroad) He was orphaned with his younger sister Amy. Alvin loved his sister very much but joined the army despite her pleas to move west. Alvin lost an arm in a pre-war incient. He was nicknamed "One-Arm Alvin" and was reported to have been seen riding into battle with the reins of his horse on the hook he had on his stump holding his gun in his good hand. He constantly worried for his 16 year old sister Amy, who he left to her job until the war was over. From what I have reasearched Alvin was tall, well built, but had a soft heart.

Lee later decided he was going to stick with his home state and fight for the Union army, and died on October 12, 1870 after having a stroke.

I'm going to blog about a famous Civil War spy, Rose O'Neal Greenhow. She was born in Maryland circa 1813. Rose lived in Washington D.C. when she was older, and became spy. She spied on the Union for the Confederacy. Rose would invite Northern soldiers into her home, then report their plans back to the South. She was eventually captured...
