Hello everyone and welcome to our classroom blog. This blog will serve as a weekly online journal entry. It will be a way to earn points for Language Arts class but SO much more. It will be a way for you to get your voice out there! Every week there will be a discussion topic/question posted by yours truly and it will be your job to respond. Your response may be in direct relation to the topic or may be a comment about another student's response. The topics will vary but your job will remain the same. Respond to the topic in as much detail as you find necessary and in as genuine a matter as possible!

ReplyDeleteI am General Of The Confederacy Robert E. Lee. I got my college education from West Point and lead under General Scott during the Mexican-American War. Abraham Lincoln himself asked me to lead the Union army, but I declined to try to stay loyal to my home state of Virginia.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Harry Freeman, I'm 18. My rank is a private, I'm fighting to abolish slavery. I'm a dark-skinned man from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have a very poor education, but I know how to read and write. I have good character and I don't get along well with white men. I hate slavery because my mother was a former slave that escaped from the south. The only family I have to look forward to after winning this war is my mother. I will fight to the end and do whatever I can to abolish slavery and make this a better country.

My wife and i believe that slaves could not exist and survive on their own. I am poor, and i have never owned a slave, but i believe that states should have strong rights. Hello, my name is Frank Hill. I am a corporal and I am a farmer/worker. I am a religious, quiet, 33 year old man and live in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania with my wife, two daughters and two sons. I believe that slavery is wrong but I believe there is an alternative way of handling the situation rather than war. Violence is not something I approve of, even if it is being used to free slaves. If you tell me to carry a gun, I will refuse.

I also have four step-children. I have much guilt due to the fact I only married Constance for her money... my name is william matthews and i am 23 years of age i have a dad that is 46 and a sister that is 16. i have not yet decided on slavery altough i am a planter. my education is fair because i went to school fpr 4 years in france.
