BLOCK 1/2 ONLY
As we come to the closing of our Reader's Workshop unit, discuss what you have liked about it and disliked. Tell me your favorite book, you opinion on lit circles and what you would have liked done differently. Tell me if you liked the CHOICE aspect of this unit or if you would have rather read a book as a class. Did you think we did too much "busy work" so that it took away from the pleasure of reading, or was it an okay amount? Try to answer all the above questions. Happy blogging!

ReplyDeleteWhat I liked about the Readers Workshop was that it was all about independence. It was kinda cool how everyone had a different book too. I am still reading my first book, which is currently "The Uglies" and its super good. I dont really have anything not to like about the workshop, except the fact that we had Response Journals and other homework. Caue personally, I dont like homework at all. But everything else was pretty good. I liked the idea of it, and sometimes when the class is reading together as a group, I just want to go speed ahead or not listen at all. Its a great way to test independency which was fun. So yeahh...Haha.

I like how we got to pick our own book and i wish we could have had more time to read the books.my favorite book was the uglys and my opinion on litcircles is that if too people are really far ahead is tht they should be able to to talk to eachother about what was hapening so that they did not spoil the book. I liked the choice so i coukd read at my speed.

i think that my favorite book was Rash just because it was full of action and it was really interesting. Lit circles were not my favorite just because i was in front of everybody or way behind so i couldn't really talk about anything. i liked that we could choose the book that we wanted to read and even if it wasn't our favorite when it was assigned. there might have been a little too much "busy work" and i would just rather read a certain amount of books in a certain amount of time. I'm glad we didn't read a book as a class just because i would probably read ahead anyways and then i would have to go back and reread.-Callen Mackey
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book was The Uglies, because thats the only one i read. It was full of suspense and action. I enjoyed doing lit circles because it gives you a chance to talk with other poeple about your book. It was an ok amount, there was a bit of "busy work" but not to much.

I liked that we got to go into lit circles and discuss about the book. I didnt like to have to do all of the response journals and it took away the joy of actually reading. It was pretty fun ...... I'm sure you put a lot of effort into it Mrs. Nadell.
ReplyDeletewhat i liked about the unit is we got time to dicuss our books and the spot we were at with other people who read that book as well. I disliked how we never had much time to just sit down and read their was work we had to do, worksheets we had to finish, words we had to find. THeir was no time to just read without having to somting like an RJ i would love it if we just got to pleasure read the book. Overall i think you did pretty well with this unit, and i think i did well too.

My book that I read was the game, I didn't like it that much. The lit circle helped me understand what other people thought about the book. I think it would be better for some people if we read half the book as a class and half as silent reading

i liked the ability to choose books, but i didnt like having to work in groups. it was very limiting if one of your group members was behind. and the amount of reading time in class was a little limited.

I thought the book Ship breaker that I read was ok.... I liked the story line but it got confusing to understand some parts. So it was hard to get started on reading the book. I liked the lit circle groups because I got to ask questions or concerns I had and we got to talk about it with one another. I hope the other books I read will be better and more interesting. :)

my favorite book was The Uglies...it was the only book i read. it was so good! i was filled with mostly everything. i really liked the lit circle because it would help me understand the book more.

I kind of liked this unit. I did like the book I read, which was Ship Breaker, but I didn't like having to do so many response journals. The work we did which you call "busy work" seemed like review, and I didn't feel that I got much out of it. I think it could also be improved by adding more book options. (I recommend adding Hunger Games, Divergent, and Delirium)

My favortie book was Empty. My least favorite was The Game...it confused me. I wish we spent less time doing work sheets and groups, and spent more time just reading. I wish we had more options to...

I thaught that there was a good amount of work, just enough to keep us on our feet and thinking about what we read and not get lazy with our books.I liked how Bo was very rebelious and easy to relate to but i di dnot like how the auther cramed it into only 200 pages I wish he would have elaborated on some things.

My favorite book was rash, and least favorite was empty (didn't finsh though). i wish that we read more then do work sheets. But thats just my opinion.

I liked this unit but I didn't like doing the journal entries. I really liked the choices of the books and the subject (dystopian). I also liked doing the lit. circles because you had other people reading the same thing as you so you could talk about parts you didn't understand or things that were confusing.

My favorite book was Empty. It had very good description and had a very good plot. The main characters built up the suuspense. I also liked this book because I know that this could actually happen in real life. I also wish the book was longer or there was a sequel.

I liked the last book in the universe because it was the only book i read. I liked the lit circle because i understood the book better. I liked reading the book by ourselfs because i can read at my pace.
