Tell me your favorite book, you opinion on lit circles and what you would have liked done differently. Tell me if you liked the CHOICE aspect of this unit or if you would have rather read a book as a class. Did you think we did too much "busy work" so that it took away from the pleasure of reading, or was it an okay amount? Try to answer all the above questions. Happy blogging!

my favorite book was the game although i would rather read books as a class.

I liked how we got to choose the books we wanted to read instead of you assigning one to us. Something I didn't like was that it was hard to discuss in our lit circles because everyone was in a different spot in the book. My favorite book that I read was Rash. I tink that reading in class had a okay amount and we could've read in SDR or at home. - Brian Tran
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book was definitely Rash. I loved how intense and interesting it was. I also think that the work time you gave us to read was just right and I would have kept it the same. Austin Regis
ReplyDeleteWhat I've liked about the readers workshop so far is the dystopian themes of the books AND that we get to choose what book we read. I don't think we did too much "busy work". It was just the right amount. :)

This reader's workshop was really cool. I liked the themes of the books. My favorite book was the Uglies. The lit circles were good too so if something about the book was confusing, you could dicuss it. Also, the book choice was good. All the books seemed interesting and there was a good amount of work/reading time.

I thought the whole readers workshop unit was fun. I liked the choice of books, all of them from what I have heard were great. I dont have any dislikes.-Luke Frey
ReplyDeleteThe thing i like about readers workshop is that we get to choose our own book and the teacher doesn't pick it for us. The thing i dislike is that i only got to 2 books so far. Since i only read 2 books i enjoyed reading the "uglies" because it was my first dystopia book I've read and because its very interesting and it had me wanting to read it more at times. My opinion on lit circles is that they are fun because i get to know what happens later on in the book. I know it may ruin the book but that's a way to urge me to read it more often. The thing I would have done differently is read more like at home and not just in class and SDR. I did like the choice aspect of this unit because I'm not a fan of reading a class book. So far i think the reading time you give us is a good amount of reading time.

My favorite book was Shipbreaker. I liked the choice aspect of the this unit because most of us were able to handle the freedom. But some people go off track after an extended period of time. This can help be bad but it can also show the teacher who he/she can trust later in the year for more freedomistic' projects. I think we had an okay amount of "busy work". If I were the teacher I wouldn't change anything about this unit. -Ethan Pepe Le
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book in this unit was Shipbreak because the action in this book was you never knew what was going to happen. I liked this unit but I didnt like doing all the response journal and I think it took away from the pleasure of the book. I would reccomend instead of doing response journals would be to write a summary every 10 chapters. I liked certain part of the lit circles and I liked the idea of having someone reading the book while I was. I also didnt like lit circles because we were all at different points of book so we tried not to spoil the book for each other which I didnt like. -Cody Hughes
ReplyDeleteI really loved doing this unit because we had th freedom of choosing what we actually wanted to read instead of just being assigned a book. Some of the lit circles that I was in was hard because some people were quiet and so I was doing all the talking and I didn't get to hear other people's thoughts. I think it would have been better if we could just use a half sheet of paper and write down the answers to the questions and then turn them in. The group that I'm in now is fine though. My favorite book would definitely be Rash. I think it's just so interesting and funny to read. I didn't really like reading Empty, it didn't keep me interested. I think the amount of work that we had in class based off the book was fine too. -Tiffany Scott
ReplyDeleteIn the Reader's Workshop Unit, I liked how we got to read dystopian novels and we got to discuss them with our lit circles. I disliked how we were limited in our choice of books and only got to read the ones that were selected. My favorite book was Empty, and I appreciated the conflicts within it, internal or external. I like the lit circles as they give everyone a different sense of how the book is viewed. I like the choice aspect of this unit because it wouldn't be much fun if everyone was reading the same book. We did a okay amount of busy work because we learned alot about conflict, plot, and the setting. Lisa Young
ReplyDeleteThis unit was very awesome. I hope we do this unit again later on in the year. I enjoyed the book rash because i could not stiop reading. - Dayton Garcia
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about the Reader's Workshop Unit is that you can pick which book you wanted to read. The lit circles was a good idea but not very effective, because everyone was in a different spot in the book. My favorite book was without a doubt; Rash. it has a very interesting plot, and its very hard to stop reading the book. I didn't really like reading 11th Plague, as it is sort of boring and very slow paced.

My favorite boom was rash. Iliked this book because it had parts that reflected on the present time today. Also i thought the amount of time to read as many books was good beacause it gave me a chance to relize my speed. I thought all the books were good because i love dystopian novels.

I liked this unit. My favorote book was pretties beccause it was a book with alot of plot twists. I liked that we got to choose the book otherwise i probably wouldnt have liked the unit. I thought time given was good to read. I wish we could keep this unit all year because its really fun.
ReplyDeleteMegan Ewing
i like the unit because you could choose the book you liked, and you didn't have to be a fast reader. My favorite book was uglies. it had a lot of detail and it was really interesting. I think it was an okay amount of work. I don't think i would have done anything different.

I liked the unit because we were given time to read the book in class. That helped for me. I didn't like the lit circles but mostly because it was either with people I dont really get along with or nobody.

ReplyDeleteI liked the reader workshop unit and my favorite book by far was Shipbreaker. I liked how we got to discuss what happened in the book so far with other people who are reading it-Alex Hall
