Blog #5 1/2 ONLY
As we start the unit on the 13 colonies, you need to start thinking about the short story you will be writing. You will take a fictional character and drop them into a colonial setting. Will your story be about a runaway slave? Will your story be about a Native American battle in the colony of Virginia? Will your story have a little witch trials in it or a love story? Will you be writing an action-adventure or a comedy? What types of stories are you drawn to? I want you to use this blog as a pre-pre-pre brainstorm of sorts. Start thinking about your short story and what you may want to write about and list some ideas or start a brainstorm here.
As always, a minimum of 2 sentences please!

My characters would have a colonial name like Elizabeth. And it will obviously be about romance. (I love romance, so I'm really excited about it). The romance will be about a guy who is a slave (african) and a girl who is a colonist. They fall in love, but this colonist can't date him because of what she will be labeled. She is madly in love and wants to marry this slave but doesn't want to be seen differently by her peers. They secretly date, and of course she will get caught. ReplyDeleteThe story i want to write about is well, i dont quite know exactly but i wanted their to be romance and humorer i dont know if thats posible but it will be nice to try.but if that story dosnt work i would like my story to be about the witch thing becuase that seems interesting as well.

I am thinking about having a short story having to do with a 15 year old girl who lives on a farm. Her mom just got acused of being a witch and she was in the croud when her mom was killed. they are atending the funeral when the girl starts uncontrolably crying. some of the people at the funeral think that the daughter has been posesed and are thinking of killing her for being a witch.

I might write about a girl accused of being a witch because I think I could really describe her emotions. Or maybe I'll write from the perspective of a servant, because I can use alot of emotion and descriptions. I'm interested in the social classes to...haha :)

first things first i am a romantic so you can guess that its going to be about romance. Its going to be about an Indian girl named NightHawk and how she falls iin love with a colonist but she can't marry him because the Powhatan's are at war with the colonist and sooo she has to sneak out to be with him...But then in battle she must choose between love and her tribe and who she is going to shott her arrow at....You will find out the res later ;)

i am thinking about doing a mixture of categories. witch trials and a romance mix-up i what i am thinking. the only reason i would not do it is because it may be too much of..... well just too much in general. then again i really haven't decided on what i am going to do.

ReplyDeleteThe girl is going to be very poor and she has has to work all day just to get food on the table, her sister dies of small pox and she has to go to the funeral, there she meets a very wealthy and handsom man that is very sweet, and very charming. But since they are from different social classes they can't be together. Eventually they meet again at nights by sneaking out to see eachother. One night the boy's mother catches him sneaking out and follows him to behind the doctors office where she sees her son with a peasant girl, and forbids the son to ever see her again.

My short story will be about a love story. I am really drawn to romantic books and movies so I thought maybe I could write a lot more details since I am so interested. There is going to be a main character who is a women from an upper class and falls in love with this black smith but she is already planned to get married to her future husband. The fiancé is really mean and rude and she is not sure if she loves him. So in time she meets this black smith and they start getting closer together and madly fall in love but she doesn't know who to choose that will make her happy forever in her life.

i want my story to be about an indian girl named snowfox. she is mischevious and loves pulling pranks. however when sneaking away from her latest prank, she meets a colonial girl looking for firewood. naturally snow fox cant resist the temptation to prank her. so she ends up scaring the girl and the girl runs away crying with fear. snowfox never saw anyone take her pranks badly before and goes to her. they eventually become freinds,but the indians become hostiletowards the settlers. can snow fox and her new colonial freind weave a peace between their people, or will they bothe perish trying?

I think I want to write something about a young girl on witch trials, but maybe from the eyes of her extremely religious mother. I like to write about inner challenges and turmoil, like the girl's mother. She would have to make a decision about how to feel about her daughter.
