Blog #6 week of 5/2-5/6

BLOCK 1/2 ONLY!

So... tell us what you think of the movie, Dead Poet's Society. What did you like? Tell us your opinion. Also tell us which of the messages from the movie are you going to take with you for your own life?!?

The five main themes from the movie are:
1.   Teaches the importance of looking at things another way. This includes reading, writing, POETRY as a unique and powerful medium and life itself.
2.  The importance of not always conforming! Do not spend your life worried of what people think of you. Maintain your own beliefs. Trust that your beliefs are unique and your own.
3.  Find your voice. It can be in sports, writing, your school work, extracurricular activities or just the positive life choices you make!!!
4.  Stand up for what you believe in!
5.  Carpe Diem – Seize the day! Make your life extraordinary. It is your choice what you make of it.

Thank you for blogging by Friday morning!

  1. I love this movie. It fits me so well. It shows me how amazing life is and how I should live it my way. Carpe Diem would have to be my message, considering I don't care what the consequences, i will do what I want which is also tied up to not caring what other people think of me.

I am who I am who can only make me who I am.

  2. when I was in elementary school I was always scared to stand out because I did not want someone to judge me I wouldn’t dress up for spirit days got my picture on the year book an especially not speak in front of a crowd of people but I realized how lame it was that I couldn’t do that and the only reason was I was too scared of people judging me but now I love to dress up and stand out and not care what people think of me

I am going to apply this to my life by seizing the opportunities I have and moving to France. This is the only time I will have this priveledge and I think it's a risk worth taking. It will be a new, exciting experience to had to my life, and it will definitely make it more extrodinary. (:

  6. I will definitely take with me (& already do use) is "the importance of not always conforming." I am a huge supporter of always standing up for what you believe in because, just because you love something doesn't mean you should stop just cause somebody else doesn't like it. For instance Justin; I've loved Justin for a long time & just because people are rude & make fun doesn't mean I'm going to stop. If I believe in it, I believe in it & I'm not going to let anybody stop me or change that. I am me & things I believe in are all parts of me that make me who I am.

  8. What I liked about the movie was at the end were all the students were standing up for there teacher for what he did.The message that I am going with is #4 because I always think that every body has the right to stand up for what they belive in.

  9. I liked how the movie really got to me and how it was more on life and not poetry, even though I didn't really relate to any of them. I think I could take all of thoses above expect 3 because I already know that one.

  10. I thought Dead Poets Society was good. I liked it. My favorite theme was Carpe Diem, because I think siezing the day and making it awesome is important. I do that anyway because I like my life to be full of suprises, so I do that for myself and others!

  11. I really liked the concept of not conforming to everyone else. People need to get out and develop their uniqueness and individuality so that they can live a little and create new ideas. That is where society is flawed in that when you conform you give up what makes you you. Where would we be if Thomas Edison, Sir Isaac Newton, Galileo, or Albert Einstein had conformed. In the movie it shows what truly can be done the beauty of the poems.

  15. At the beginning of the movie I thought that it was going to be just another boring video in humanities, then when i watched it some more, it wasn't too bad. I am going to use all of the 5 lessons that were taught in the movie because when I do that then my entire world will be seen from a different perspective and I would take more chances and just be 100% me and nobody else could tell me what to do.

  16. I personally really liked this movie. It was a really good inspiration and made me think about life more outside of my comfort zone. If I had to pick one of the five lessons I would choose #5. You only have one life, and you might as well live it to the fullest.

  17. This movie was REALLY good! I always loved watching this movie with my family because it sends out a really good message. The one that would stick with me the most would probably be The importance of not always conforming! Do not spend your life worried of what people think of you. Maintain your own beliefs. Trust that your beliefs are unique and your own. Also Carpe Diem. You don't live forever and you have to do what you want in life, not what other people want. - Georgia Hope (:

  21. Dead Poet Society is one of the best movies i've seen so far and is now my favorite movie too.It was very sad at the end when Neil killed himself and if i was him too i would have done the same thing because if my parents forced me to do something that im not really into like being a doctor and i didnt want to then whats the point? I mean if you dont enjoy being a doctor than you wont enjoy your job at all. I think its important to do or be something that you really want to be or do so you will enjoy it. This movie was very insperational and made me see life in a new way, I will go with 2 and 5, I know it said only one but I chose 2 because these 2 really get me.

  22. Dead poets society was a great movie but I could never watch it at home because i had no way of renting it so i was happy when we watched in class and I would choose Carpe Diem for one of the messages for me to follow in life but I have a pretty dull life so i could't pick that so instead I would choose 2-Do not spend your life worried of what people think of you. Maintain your own beliefs. Trust that your beliefs are unique and your own.

  23. I liked the movie. I thought it had a lot of meaning behind it.
& #4. Stand up for what you believe in. Because a lot of people have different opinions.

  24. I also like # 3- find your voice. I thinkm that when people find their voice it makes them more them. They aren't trying to be somebody they aren't. It could be hard to do, but I found mine and I don't know where, but it makes me me.

  25. I really liked this movie. It made me think of how good my life is, because I get to do what I want unlike him. If I had to pick one of the five lessons I would choose #5… Carpe Diem, because you only have one life, so live it well, and make it special.

  26. Another lesson I would choose would be #3... Find your voice. I would choose this, because life is about doing what you want to be doing, and if you aren’t, why would life be worth living. Just like in the movie the boy killed himself, because he didn't get to do what he wanted to. That is why I would also choose this life lesson. I really liked this movie. It made me think of how good my life is, because I get to do what I want unlike him. If I had to pick one of the five lessons I would choose #5… Carpe Diem, because you only have one life, so live it well, and make it special.

  27. I will remember this movie as one of my life long messages. I believe this movie gave me a lot to take from it, but what most stood out to me was the saying "Stand up for what you believe in" because it shows how the kids stood up for the teacher and helped him out. This movie was GREAT keep showing it Nadell!!!

So, I really liked the movie. It may be one of my favorite movies ever. Charlie was my favorite character. I'm definetly going to use "carpe diem" or seize the day. I thought that was great.
