  1. I know that slavery is a when people can buy people becuse they are from a differnt reace. The slaves always had to work all the time and they get nonthing in return. Some of the slaves tried to run away to flordia if they lived south or they would try to go to the none slavery states were they well be free. Some of them made it because of the under groung railroad toke them there. But othere didnt make it because they take it and eather they were killed or they were slaves.

  2. I don't know much but I have read a few stories were there are characters that are slaves. Those characters aren't really treated like human, they are thought less of then others. I know many slaves were used as laborers in fields. According to a FAQ site I found that right now there are 27 million people, around the world, who are slaves today in the 21st century, which I find unbelievable.

Slavery is taking a certain type of people and manipulating them like they are things. People could trade slaves, buy them or capture them like they were animals. Once the slave was someones property (usually a rich person's) they could do whatever they wanted with them. Most of the time slaves were bought to work around plantations but people killed them beat them and even had affairs with them. Slaves worked for free (not by their choice) and the only thing they got was food and water, and if they were lucky, shelter. being a slave was not good and some tried to escape but most died or got returned to their capture.

Slaves were bought captured or traded by rich men that owned plantations. Slaves were not treated as a human but as animals. Slaves soent their days working and were not paid. Slaves were provided with food water and if they were lucky, a place to sleep. Some of the owners would kill them, hurt them or even have affairs with them. Being a slave was a sad life which made them want to runnaway. Some escaped through the underground railrode, but some were caught. If they were caught they would either be killed (whoever found them) or sent back to their owner. being a slave was a terrible job which no one in the Earth would want to do.

  5. i know that slaves were most commonly african. they were brought to the unoted states to farm. The family dog was treated better then slaves. Alot of slaves tried to escape to the free statesbut then they passed a law that said that all the slaves that ran away to the free states had to be sent back to their owners as soon as thier were found.

  6. I know most slaves were blacks and treated with no respect. They were captured from their homes in South Africa and brought over to America on ships. This journey was very tough and many did not survive. Once in America the were put to work. None were treated fair, they were beaten and punished constantly. So even tried to run away.

  7. Slavery, is not good. One thing I about slaves is that many people did not agree with it and the want of slave states is a factor to what started the Civil War. Many people tried to fight for the stop in slavery for example Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi. Also, slaves were mostly Africans and African American decedents. They were treated horribly, for example a punishment would be whipping or something of that sort. Black people were thought of very low. As Austun said, a family dog would be treated better. But I think what hurt the most was being called the N word. Thats no cool.

  8. Slaves were either African American or indentured servants that were treated as poorly as slaves. Slaves were abused and were treated poorly. They were regarded as less important than the family dog. The slaves were tasken from their home country or born into slavery. The ships transporting the slaves were tight and cramped. Often diseases would easily spread throughout the passengers. Dead people were simply tossed overboard, along with infants or anyone unable to make the journey. Their treatment was the definition of cruel and unusual punishment. Slavery was one of the reasons for the civil war. Practically everyone owned slaves at one point or another, often even if they were opposed to it. In Congress when the slaves had to vote they were only couted as a third of a person. Women got their rights before African Americans did. Slaves could be Cocasian, Asian, African American, or even Mexican. Slaves were at the very bottom of the pyramid of society.

  9. I rally dont know a whole lot but i do know that it is competely wrong! Slaves were treated like dirt just because of their skin color. When i hear the term slaves it really makes me shiver at the thought of people being treated so badly and making them work. Often slaves would try to escape because of their harsh treatments and that itself tells you how bad it really was.

$Mikey D out everybody in the hiz house peace!$

    P.S. slavery sucks!

  11. Slavery makes me sad. The things that I know about slavery are that they made african Americans do awful things for them, and they made them reproduce against their will because they were selfish and they wanted more slaves without shipping them in. And if the people weren't strong enough, then they let them die or pushed them to die.

  12. I don't know that much about slavery it's self. But I know that alot of slaves were African Americans and that they were treated very harshly on the way over to America and during their stay here. Alot of them wanted to be free because it wasn't worth their lives getting hurt or punished for very little things or even nothing. They'd be whipped. They'd get very, very little food and worked long hours. Coming over to America; alot of them died because of how dirty the ships were. Unsainitary living place, no room to move... Barely any food and they would give it to the babies that needed it most! Alot of the slaves tried escaping but couldn't or if they did it was very hard to escape. The thing is; when escaping they'd have to travel at night so no one could see them. Some of the Native Americans would help the slaves travel along to the west because the Natives were also being treated poorly by the Americans. Also the slaves either had to get to Canada or Florida to become free.

  13. I read a story about this family that took in slaves, they were a part of the underground window and as a sign would out a burning candle in the top right window to show that they would take in slaves and would put them under the boards of their cows stall to hide them and then help them reach their next destination. It was really intersting and an awesome read! I know that they were mostly from Africa and that they were used to farm and as maids ect. If they were caught trying to excape they would be killed or beat.

  14. I know that slavery can mean a lot of things: it can be something as normal as just doing someone's work for them, like chores for a older sibling. Or it can be as awful as saying that you "own" someone, making them do every thing for you and making them feel like they're worthless. I don't know too much HISTORY about slavery but I do know that a big slave trade/transfer happened between Africa and North America, way back when.-WENDY Fillman

  15. I know that slavery is when people are used illegaly against there on will. The people used in slavery are usually imported from another country. The first slave trade started in africa and were brought over to america in order help crop the cotton in the south of the U.S all the people who were slaves were african american and treated improperly.

  16. Slavery is where people are held against their will and forced into work without any sort of pay. It was usually between white people being the masters and black people being the slaves. Also, I know that slavery is one of the big regrets of our country (along with segregation) and that it was inapt from the 1600's to 1863. The slave trade is where many africans were basically "stolen" from their homeland to be brought to america; then, sold as slaves. to wealthy plantation owners. Other than that, I really don't know that much else.

  17. Slavery is the only subject I like learning about in social studies. I don't like it, but we have to know the negative history of the US, because we're not perfect. I know the basics of slavery, but not much in detail. They were Africans that were literally, shipped to the US. They got beat for the littlest things, and I know there were a lot of famous escapes. I cannot even imagine how heartless the US was, to do all that to a human being. Slavery makes me think about the things they had to go through, and it's just sad.

They we sent to south america and the U.S on ships that the were forced on.
They only wanted the strongest ones.
They were sold to rich white people the needed people to work for them.
The highest amount a slave was sold for was about $1,500

  20. I know a considerable amount about slavery. I know the whites treaty the black, african americans very poorly. like animals. I am so glad slavery has been abolished. They whipped and burned the slaves. Slaves came from everywhere, all over the world.

  21. I know alot about Slavery. Slaves came from everywhere, and had to endure the long very miserable trip here. They whip, and burned the slaves. They fed them less than they fed the animals, and worked them all day long. They were sold, and serperated from their families. Some lucky ones got to escape to cananda. I am so glad slavery has been abolished.

  22. I don't know a lot about slavery, but I do know that slaves were treated terribly. Millions of slaves died on the way to America from starvation, disease or suicide. They were auctioned off to slave owners. They had to do many chores and most had to pick TONS of cotton. They had sad, miserable lives. They were beat for doing the littlest things. Some tried to escape to the north or Florida. Also some slaves used the underground railroad to get away. I feel so bad to be an american when I think of the way we treated them and I wish slavery had never happened.

  23. Slavery is bad. White people made black people do stuff for them, and acted as if they had a reward for it, but it would never pay off. They were treated like they were not alive.

  24. What I know about slavery is that, they are people who are owned by another person. The people who were slaves were mostly Africans, and they got shipped to the US. They go through such a hard times trying to live through all the beating, the hot sun, and sometimes watching people just die. It's sad to know that slavery was such a big thing back then and a lot of people didn't care for how the slaves thought.

  25. Slaves were very mistreated. Most slaves were Arican American that were either taken or tricked from their homes. Then the slaves had to endure a five to six months in a crowed little shack were the slaves either layed down or couldn't sit or stand. Then they were sold at a actution like an animal. Then they went to planations wherre they picked an perpeared cotton. They worked tweleve to forteen hours a day. Thats most I know about slaves in America in a nut shell.

  26. I'm no expert on Slaver in America. I do know though that Africans were shipped over to America and sold as slaves. The slaves were bought and the owner, their master, put them to work on whatever he/she needed done. Some slaves did try to escape though. The escaped slaves followed the north star to get to Canada, also sometimes guides led them to Canada. This was called a underground railroad; not for being underground, but because they were breaking the law of the US. Most of the slaves decided not to go to Canada and to say enslaved for life.

  27. Slavery went on for 200 years. Black people were sold at auctions and were treated like animals. They barely got enough food to survive and work. They would have to get a certain amount of cotton. They had to fight to get there freedom back.

  28. Slavery was a really bad thing and lots of African Americans died and lost family members. They worked on plantations and did lots of heavy duty work all day long and got whipped. They were mistreated people and were known as "property". Slavery was a really bad thing.-Jordan Carlson
