  1. I have no idea what life was like in the 1800's, so I'm spitballing here-- I think it was really poor and dusty.....I don't know who Tom Sawyer is or what he did other than he was kinda poor and a song was written about him in the 80's.

  2. I think that Tom Sawyer is a boy who runs away from home. Tom is also accompanied by an African American man. I think for apart or a majority of the trip is spent going down the Mississippi river. Tom uses his wit to get others to do his work for him. -Ethan Pepe Le

  3. I know that slavery was a large part of life. So there will be much language appropriate for that time but that is looked down on now.-Luke Frey

  5. To be honest Mrs. Nadell, I know little to nothing about tom sawyer. I know that it took place in the 1800s time period and the location. Its a novel that follows the development of a hero from childhood and into adult hood. Austin Regis

  6. I know slavery had a big impact in 1800's. I think Tom sawyer is a black boy that runs away. I think setting will be in the cotton fields because thats what blacks did for work in that time.- Cody HUghes

  7. I know that in that time period,1800, times were rough and life was a lot less civilized than it is today. I know that Tom Sawyer is a book that records the adventures and life of a young boy who lived in the 1800s. Lisa Young

  8. Honestly, I don't know anything about the 1800's. I imagine there are many small towns where everyone knows everyone and everything that goes on. I imagine there would be lots of gossip that is easily spread throughout the towns and a lot of hate goes around?.. I don't really know. And Tom Sawyer?? Ehh, I have no clue. -Kendall Kupferer (MRS.NADELL's FAVORITE STUDENT)

  13. I really do not know a whole lot about the 1800's or Tom Sawyer but here's what I do know. I know that very young children would start to work in the fields with their family by the time they were 6 or 7 and their work day started before the sun would rise. The girls would spend the day cooking, cleaning, making clothes and other similar tasks. While the boys would provide for their family by hunting and gathering. Based on our reading today, I know that Tom Sawyer is a very clever boy who likes to use his mind instead of actual work. When *he* was supposed to be painting the fence, instead he tricked other people into thinking it was super fun. Since everybody thought it was just so fun, they all were begging to help paint the fence. They would even give up their "treasures" to do Tom's work. Tom is also a boss. He's the "cool kid" of the Mississippi town. Everybody thinks he's just so cool and is a bad boy. Most wanted to be his friend but was also kinda hesitant because they didn't wanna be getting into a lot of trouble. From before we read the book, all I know about this book is that I think Tom falls in love with this chick Becky Thatcher, the priest's daughter. & then Huckleberry Finn, who's father is the town drunk, ends up being friends with Tom. Tom & Huckleberry go around town getting in trouble. Thats about all I know at this point.

  14. I know that there was a lot of racism. And I know tom was really clever and lazy and tricky. But I only know that because of fairly odd parents.

  16. I know this was right before the Civil War so slaves must be involved one way or another. I also know the technology was very less advanced and there were no computers so if kids wanted fun they had to...(dun dun dun) actually go outside and get some themselves

  17. I know that they didnt have nearly as much as we do. But that is about the extent to it. I know tom sawyer was a tricky little boy about our age. He tricked other kids to do all his chores and work for him.
