  1. I dont know if this is funny but i thought it was strange when he described swinging a dead or alive cat around your head. Personaly because i dont think i would ever do that. Also drinking out of a tree stump sounds gross and weird. Also the fact that once you kiss a girl aparently you become engaged. The only real part in that is that you kind of have to promise never to love anyone else.

  2. Mark Twain shows his humor by giving Tom a mischievous and clever personality, he manipulates and uses others curiosity to his advantage. Also, when he sees someone, and he falls for her like Becky, he has an over dramatic wave sensation.-Luke Frey

  3. I think Mark Twain has been noted as a funny writer because of his multiple funny passages in his book, Tom Sawyer. Some examples of his personality is when Twain describes the scene in church where the pinch bug bit the dog. Another good example is when Twain describes Tom argument with the preppy boy in the first few chapters. His word choice and spelling really made me laugh when they were talking about who's tougher and about fake brothers. -Ethan Le

  4. Mark Twain show many examples of his humor in his book, The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer. One of them is when Tom released a beetle during church.

  5. Mark Twain is a darn funny writer in many different ways. One of the times he made me chuckle was when he convinced everyone from doing work he didnt want to do for free by sounding that it was a important job. Another example where he made me chuckle is when Tom pretended that he has a foot disease and couldnt go to school for 2-3 months but his aunt caught him. Mark Twain makes me laugh on many different occasions. -Cody Hughes

  6. He is funny in his own way. In the book he not only gives funny scenes for example when tom is being extremely dramatic like he wants to die but also the words he uses instead of saying hitting like 'I am going to lick ya'. Austin Regis

  7. I agree that Mark Twain is a funny writer. :)
On example in the book is when Tom is in church and he lets the pinch bug out of the box and it pinched the dog. Also, all the funny superstition.

  8. Mark Twain is not only writing humorous scenes, but the way he puts everything together. For example he has this clever boy who is always doing something that makes me laugh. But then you have the tattletale Sid, Tom's cousin. He has a lot of oppposite people and personalities that are funny together. One of my favorite scenes, which happens to be the most famous scene, is the white washing. It was so funny to see how easily it seemed to come to Tom, kind of like he's a natural.

  9. One example of Mark Twain's sense of humor is when he writes in third person, actually speaking out of the book to the person reading it. It's pretty funny how he does that, and how he combines the adventures of his childhood with the morden times, and shows how they're not so different. For example, there are the funny superstitions about witches & devils, the small trading civilization the children set up, etc. -Lisa Young

  10. Mark Twain shows off his sense of humor through a clever and mischievous character, Tom Sawyer. The book was really funny when Tom set a beetle lose in church, and it pinched a dog multiple times. Also, a lot of the scenes where Tom tries to get Becky are really funny also. My favorite was the one we just read, where Tom drugs his cat Peter with Aunt Polly's "pain killer" and Peter goes absolutely crazy. - Brian Tran

  11. Mark Twain is a very funny writer. He includes lots of different types of feelings and moods throughout the book. For example, he makes it scary, funny, romantic, dramatic and more. I thought it was funny when Tom was thinking of ways he could skip school and he ended up saying something like, my poor toe is so miserable. That was just funny. Another example of a funny scene is when Tom tries to show off in front of Becky's house and she wasn't impressed and went in her house and he looked ridiculous. Hahahaa:)

  12. Mark Twain is a funny writer because of how he puts his imagination together. For example when it was the scene of Tom and Becky at their desks and Tom wouldn't let Becky see,his urge for Becky wanting to see it was kinda funny. But another scene was when all the boys at school thought Tom was cool because he loosed his tooth and that gave him the advantage to spit the farthest. Tom Sawyers writing is incredible, he knows how to give an image to the reader at the right place but also gives good description.

  13. I find Mark Twain funny, not really in his writing, but how we wrote Tom's character. A funny, mischievous, brilliant boy. I find myself a lot like Tom and I can connect to Tom in this way which makes the reading more enjoyable to me.

  14. Mark Twain is a funny writer and can bring imagination to the next level. An example was when he was bored with church so he made his own fun by playing with his cockroach and a dog got bit and agent crazy. Another example of mark Twain being funny in his books is when he gave the cat pain killers and the cat went crazy.

  15. I think that Mark Twain brings his humor to his writing a lot. Like when that had the pain killers it was so funny because I just picture this cat being all normal than just starts running around like a banshee. Another example is just Tom in general. Tom, first of all, is a stalker like when he waited outside Becky's house for hours. If I was her I would file a restraining order. Tom is also super random. Who says to themselves, 'oh church is boring. I know! I'll play with a beetle for the rest of the sermon.' It's also kind of funny seeing all the little things that he thinks is sooooooo cool. What kid has a a dead rat on a string? Those are just a few examples of how Mark Twain brings his sense of humor to his writing.

  16. mark twain shows his humor by making tom a funny and random kid. it shows tom as a funny boy when he put the tick on the table or how he always lies and try's to get out of it. this makes mark twain a great writer because you never want to stop reading about tom's hilarious adventures. 17. Mark twain is basically just a natural at being funny. One example of this could be tom releasing the beatle, and it biting the dog.
