BLOCK 1/2

What does it mean to be part of the 12th man in football? How about in the rest of your life? How could you apply that term to a different situation or part of your life?

PS- Who are you rooting for now that the Hawks are out?

  1. Meaning of 12th man: There are only suppose to be 11 football players on the field, playing. The crowd is so loud that it acts as another football player. At least that's the football definition. In other parts of your life, I am not exactly sure how this would fit. Since the Hawks are out...(saddest day of my life...no just kidding, It was sad though..) I really want San Fran to winn!

  2. It means to be part of the team. The 12 man cheers on and stands out to help the team. If the team wins the 12 man is as happy the team itself and if they loose they are sad. The 12 man is an important person that's a part of the football team.

  3. now that the hawks are out i really am only watching whatever my dad or brother has on. Im not rotting for anybody else. okay so i will probably be apart of the 12th man for the rest of my life because its all too exciting, i mean i almost popped a vein watching the last game. the 12th man is the fans since there are only 11 players out on the field. i dont think i could apply this in any other situation besides maybe soccer or other sports with 11 players on the field at once. thats all i can think of for that

  4. The twelth man is the fans i think... I don't really know if it does mean the fans then to apply it to my life i would have to say i am a HUGE Cougar's fan and i grew up with the SeaHawks in my small world so i love that team too. A differnt situation in my life? I don't know...i guess... I really don't know. I am still rooting for the seahawks even if their not playing i don't know about very many teams and i don't know who is playing right now anyway, i'm always to busy reading to watch football.

  5. I like being a "12th Man" because it kinda shows my support towards our football team here in Seattle. Me && my family are really into football . I could applt this to a part of my life by rooting for all teams that we have here in Seattle. Hopefully we can be rooting for the Sonics again soon. I am rooting for Atlanta just because of how close the game was.

  6. I literally had to look this up, I had no idea what it meant. According to Wikipedia, the "12th man" is a term used in sports for the fans or supporters. An American football team typically is allowed to have eleven players on the team; the term therefore implies that the fans have the potential to effect the outcome of the game or match. I do believe in the power of support, having felt it myself. Having people, specifically people you care about, support and cheering for you is a truly inspiring and liberating experience. I'd like to think that I'm generally a pretty accepting and supporting person. I'm known to stand up for what I believe in and who I believe in. Being a "12th man" or "12th woman" in my case, is very important to me.

  8. I dont really know what the 12th man is but ill take a wild guess.... i think The 12th man is a term commonly used to describe the fans within a stadium during football (soccer) or American football games. since in the football games they onley have a maximum of 11 players on the field it really means the fans sooo they include us as one of them!!!! I could apply the term by saying if George W. and others was a total of 55 deligates and he said 56, by saying that he also means we the people of the U.S.A!!!!

I guess you could say that one direction has a 12th fan (a.k.a me) but they only have five people so idk how this could apply to my life. Now that the Hawks are out my life is over. LOL I was so sad to find out they losed. We didnt watch the game becuase we were cleaning the house, we were gonna have people over. HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAAHAHAHAH fun fact: If you wear fake glasses it is scientifically proven that you feel smarter while wearing them.

  15. Im not a football fan, but I know that the 12th man is the fans. The fans play such a big part in the teams game(s), that they're like another man. I'm part of a different fandom, which is probably obvious ;) Being a part of a fandom is a fun and unique experience. You meet new people everyday!
