Blog #10 Week of 11/13-11/17

Block 3/4 Only!

As the Colonists were starting to feel unhappy with their boss- er... King George, they started to think about revolting.  The goal was to one day have their own country, with their own set of rules to follow- fair rules where they had a say. And they started to conduct super secret meetings where they made these new rules and dreamt about what freedom would bring.   If you were a fly on a wall at one of these meetings, what sort of things do you think they envisioned for their new country- what rules would they want or not want? What did the DREAM BIG about?

  1. they wanted freedom for the people moving there. but they also wanted king george to still rule them. and also they taxed them while over there. king george made it seem perfect and when you got there you started to realize some of the downfalls.

  2. I believed they envisioned a fair country with justice. Everyone would have rights and they wanted a country that was not ruled by one man.-Luke Frey

  3. The colonists would make rules that would allow them to trade with anyone they want. The Navigation Acts really limited them and they made less money because other countries were willing to pay more. Also, they would only tax themselves for things that they wanted and actually asked for. Freedom would bring a more efficiently run country.

If i was a fly on a wall, id think id hear things about rebelling against King George of course but also on how they were going to fight against his system. They'd want to NOT be taxed on what they didn't ask for, maybe free speech and not to be ruled by some foolish man. I think they just wanted to live freely like we do now. They'd like to do what they'd want around town and not worry about getting killed or getting into trouble.

  5. I think they would be talking about overthrowing king George and rebelling. I also think that if they were talking about that kind of thing they would get caught fast.

  6. I think they wanted a country where you were free to do a lot of things without government permission. They wanted a country where everyone can be different, and have different beliefs.

  7. If I was a fly on the wall during these meetings I would probably hear how the colonists didnt want to pay anymore taxes. I would also hear about the militia and how they planned on taking England. I think they would dream big about not having a king making decisions for them one hundred miles away. -Cody Hughes

  8. If I was a fly on a wall at one of the colonists meetings, the colonists would have probably envisioned a different future for their new country, with no King George or any tyrant ruling them. They probably wanted rules that they could have actually have a say in, not like King George's rules, which never allowed any other person's opinion in the say. Most of all, they DREAMED BIG about having freedom and running their own country the way they, the people, wanted it to be run. Lisa Young

  10. If I overheard what the colonists were talking about at the meetings, I would expect to hear that they would like to have freedom to trade with other countries. Also they might say that if they wanted protection from outsiders they would get it... Not being forced to pay for protection they didn't want.

  11. I would probably hear their very passionate debates on the future of the 13 colonies. They would have discussed what rules our country would have. They made laws that would make the country, in their eyes, better for everyone. This included allowing people to trade with who they want and to live where they please. Later on, they would discuss the best way to fight the British forces. They would have evaluated their spy's reports on red coat movements so that they can ambush them using guerilla war tactics, which were very different from the usual European style warfare. -Ethan Le

  13. If i was a fly on the wall, i would most likely hear the colonists discuss about plans to take down the british, how their being lied to and cheated, and they hate being pushed around by new laws. The colonists wanted to live by there rules, there prices, and freely. They came all the way to America, made their colonies, and started a new way of life without much of King George's help. So, they defineley weren't going to let him and his soldiers rule his land with wars and raising un-neccissary prices! There dream was to live freely and have rights, with out king George.

  23. If I was a fly on the wall, I believe I would hear many different things about taxes. They would talk about how they didn't want to be taxed on so many things. I'm sure they would talk about how they wanted to be able to do whatever they want, where they wanted to do it. I think this would make the country much more efficient and run smoothly.
