Let's start thinking about our BIG OLD RESEARCH PAPER. You get to pick the topic you will write about. The only requirement is that you research an issue in the Bill of Rights. Maybe you will write about banning the Death Penalty, or reducing gun control laws. Maybe you will research corporal punishment or maybe you will write about school uniforms. This is your choice but you must pick wisely, as you will be living with this topic for several weeks.
For this blog, I want you to brainstorm some topic choices and ask for feedback from the class. Your post must be two sentences minimum in length, but please return to respond to others!

i was thinking about doing my researech paper on school unifoms.. how no one shoukd have to wear them. people should get to wear what they want at school. i think there should be guidelines. any suggestions???
ReplyDeleteMy research paper is most likely going to be on the 8th amendment. The amendment talks about cruel and unusual punishment and excessive fines. I choose this amendment because I find this amendment is unusual because for example a person goes out and kills a person on purpose and the murder themselves are single and the person they kill has a full family and they are the only ones that worked. The murder is going to go to jail and thats it but the persons who died's family is going to have no support and then starve and also die is that fair that the murder killed five people and is only getting punished for one? Theirs many situations where this amendment doesn't work out. If you have any other situation where this amendment might be trouble then do replay and give me suggestions!

ReplyDeleteI want to do School Uniforms for one because we should be allowed to wear what we want to express our own personality. I know that there will be rules to this & kids will have to abide by the rules to wear whats appropriate but still, we expressing ourselves in music, art, etc. Some people like to express their self in clothes/fashion as well. So why can't we do that?
I was also thinking about doing the Death Penalty because I'm for it. But only depending on the crime. The Death Penatly isn't that bad in my opinion/eyes because what if there's a murder on the loose for example. He's killed about 7-10 people. He's mad and all this. Why wouldn't we use the Death Penalty knowing that if he got out of jail because of bail or being 'good' he would just keep killing people.
That's just an expample. Even though that example seemed really bad. That's what I was thinking of a Death Penatly would be for.
So what feedback can I get to improve these ideas? I'm going more tords the School Uniforms though. What do I need to know!?!?!?!?

im thinking of doing school uniforms. like geddy said our clothes show our personality and also prove everyone is different. there is a good thing to school uniforms like it may cut down on bullying because who wants to make fun of someone about what they are wearing when you are wearing the same thing as them
ReplyDeletei think that i am going to do my reaserch paper on the 2nd Amendment. this Ammendment is the right to a state militia and the right to bear arms. i think that without this ammendment if a big war started we would have to get recruted into the army because their is no protection for the states besides the main army. i think we should beavle to have a gun because if you get robed and the rober has a gun you have virtually no prtection.
ReplyDeleteI think that I will be writing about the Death Penalty. Last year I did Debate and that was my big topic and I had a blast with it so I am excited to learn more about it! I am Pro death pealty because like Geddy said, what if there is a dangerous person running around? I personally wouldn't feel save and would crawl under my bed and hide for a week :) Also, people should be punished for taking another's life. Think about the family of the victim(s)! Even though people think that it goes agnest the 8th Amendment, it does not. It is not a cruel and unususal punishment like human sacriface, it is humane and the safest way. Any Comments or other info?

I'm not really sure what I want my paper to be about but I was thinking maybe freedom or speach and how you should be able to say what you want. I was also considering freedom of press and how this is really important even if it's saying bad things about the government. I'm still really indecisive though. Any suggestions?

ReplyDeleteI feel strongly about both of these amendments. The right to believe in what you want and keep your defiancess up are very valueable to our country.
I dont really know what my paper is about. If i cnt find anything that I like better I might go with the death penalty. If anyone has any suggestions of what I might like to do give me a tip.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling pretty strong about the gun control laws because I can argue with it. Keeping defenses and all that "right to bear arms" has a lot of support but staying weeks on this topic might get tiring for me so i'm not quite sure yet. If not, the death penalty is also a good law to debate with.

I was thinking that my paper might be about teens having the right to free speach. I belive that teens have the right to free speach because we are are just like adults but we are under the age of 18.
ReplyDeleteMy research paper is on The Patriot Act. I'm intrested in this because It violates our right to privacy. This can also lead to profileing people just because of the religion.
ReplyDeleteI am going to do my research paper on our 2nd amendment. People should be able to protect themselves and others, if they cant do that they might as well just be a sitting duck and get mugged or robbed. Think about that!

I was thinking of doing my reaserch paper on the 2nd amendment. I think that the people of a s6tate should be able to protect themselves if they get attacked by something as big as a group/organization of terrorists, or they are just being robbed. We shouldn't have to just sit there and do nothing, we have to defend ourselves.

I have very strong thoughts on this subject i believe that if you murder someone that you deserve to be murdered your self in the same way that you killed weather its an accident or on purpose. I believe that you should not be able to have the choice of witch death penalty you want or be able to live your life in prison this costs the state tax dollars. :) (:

My recearch paper is going to be on dress codes. For me I think we should wear uniforms because one bullying would stop because of what some people wear. Also I was the one that was bulled in fourth grade because of the things I wore. So I know how the ones that are being bullyed feel like.
ReplyDeleteI say there is too much gun control. theres too much of it, i know that you may think then it is eaisier for crimals t get them but it also makes them eaisier for citezns that would never break the law in any way. Also if someone went out shooting people then if you had a gun on you then you could shoot the shooter and save a bunch of people that might have died from the shooter

You go for that Hannah seems like you are very interested!!!Jake its nice your doing the Patriot Act but theres not detailed information out there I tried and gave up. I would ask Mrs.Nadell for extra help because its a hard topic. Even though there is a lot of new info due to some new issue with it but try hard if you do so.

I am going to do my research paper on the death penalty. I'm going to be for the death penalty because if someone takes another person life and it brutal or they don't show any remorse. They should get the death penalty because if they get away with it once they will probably do it again.

ReplyDeleteFinally I have come up with my subject to write about. This is all about the 9th amendment which says cruel and unusual punishment is not aloud. Last time i checked I'm pretty sure being hanged or being ZAPPED to death is pretty cruel.
