Now that we have started our Colonial Short Story- what are you writing about? In detail explain your idea and ask fellow students for any help or ideas! This is a good forum to get feedback and to see if others think your idea is writeable or not.

I amwriting about a 17 year old man who inlists in the army in 1768 and has to fight in the revolutanary war. my idea in this is to learn about the war life back then and the technology.

my story is going to be about a indentured slave that is sent on his final task but is atacked by pirates... thats all i got so far but i think i am going to add them leaving their captives and so on but if any one has an idea i could use tell me
ReplyDeleteI am going to write about a teenage girl who gets captured from her home. Her name in Susanna. While she is on the boat she gets beaten, doesn't get enough food and after the boat she gets sold to a cruel white man. Ant ideas on what his name could be?? Thanks for the help!

My storie is about a farmer named Cedrik and his wife, lorrisa. His life is fine untill his wife is accused of being a witch and is taken into custidy. He begs her too say she is a witch so she can come home. He says they can run away together. But she has allready come to terms with her death and has distanced herself from human communications. Luckily the witch trials were abolished befor her hanging but cedrik comes home to find that she has hung herself.

My short story is going to be about a girl named Elizabeth who falls in love with a poor wheelwright. She is already engaged to an old grumpy rich man. A little detail in my story is whenever Elizabeth and her family are on their way to see this grumpy old guy (any ideas for his name?) she kicks the carriage and breaks it so the wheelwright (Jack) has to come and fix it. I'm not sure how I would end it? Should Jack get the girl or should they be apart forever?

It is close to the revolutionary war so they are making cannons and guns for the militia to fight the British. The conflict will be that an evil British general is trying to find there mill and arrest them.

ReplyDeleteMy short story is about a slave who gets bought by Thomas and ranamed from Jengo to Jim, then the daughter of the owner (Elizabeth) starts to teach Jim english. Thomas's friend Frank gets murdered by his wife who killed him with a worm(device that is used to clean the barrel of a gun). Later thomas finds out that Jim can speak english now and he likes the idea of that, Jim then asks Thomas for a pair of shoes. Phillip, Elizabeth's brother gets engaged to his friend Maria, they have the wedding soon after. Jim finaly gets his shoes and a big suprise... he is being let go to become a free black and work as a shoe maker.

i am writing bout a group of people that are suposed to be delivering suplies but they crash on an island. they have to work together to survive, they have only a good amount of food and they know there not alone on this island.

ReplyDeleteMy short story is about a teenage girl that lives with her wealthy family in a very rich neighborhood. Then, a black family moves in down the street, and the girl and the black teenage boy become friends. After, the black boy is captured and taken off to be sold as a slave. The teenage girl is very sad, and so the father surprises the teenage girl by going and buying the slave from the auction block. Any suggestions?

ReplyDeleteMy story is about a couple, the girl is very forunate and the man is very poor. They can't be together, but through it all they manage to come with an idea. The idea is that the man is going to make fake coins to be rich & prove to her family that they can be together at last.
I just need a beginning, or a new start.
Because I changed my story to something totally different which was this! Which by the way, I like it better.

My story is a complicated one that has to do with the southern colonies during the winter and the hardships that some of the colonists had to endure during these times and also a man is accused of witch craft but that isnt the main plot (I still need ideas)

this assignment has got me caught on what actually to write about, i mean i know its supposed to be about the colonial times and how people survived and their normal everyday life but help me on the seen and the setting and were do i start?
I am writing about a nine year old kid named Lucas. his father will loose his job as a gun smith, and Lucas will really have to help him, his father, 4 year old sister, and mother. he will have to learn to use his dad's musket to hunt, and protect his family from the natives. He will also try to help out around the village, to earn money for essential things to stay alive.

Carina, the white man's name should be Nollin, because is sounds like a name that could belong to a mean person. Plus it's a white name
My story is about a girl who falls in love with a guy that she runs into and her soon-to-be-husband and her father doesn't approve of him or their marriage. The father and daughter get into a huge fight and they dont talk for days. Christmas rolls around and the dad and it's the night before Christmas Eve, and the Dad dies (not sure why yet) so, the daughter really regrets getting into a fight and not talking to him. The picture is of a funeral that I chose, and instead of them just walking by a funeral I had kind of gave a twist and had a funeral in their lifes.

My short story is about a girl that falls in love with a boy that goes off in the war, before christmas time and doesnt return for christmas when expected. I wonder if I should have the girl be told that he was dead then they find him and hes alive and well and he comes home or if I should us another idea....please tell me if you hav any ideas! :)

My story is about a young man, William and his marrage, with his wife name Sarah, but then all of a sudden there is a new girl in town name melissa. William is a nice guy but he has a gambling problem. He was on his way and he bump into melissa. They soon talk and get to know "more" about each. He then soons gets caught for adultery and cheating, and wanted dead for gambling. Is there any other ideas I can add to make this story more interesting?

ReplyDeleteMy story involves sabatours in the revolution who will spy on the british and destroy their cannons at Boston. My characters include a freed black slave, a giant, a sociopathic German doctor, and an ex British Royal Marine.
ReplyDeleteMy short story is about a family who lives in the middle colonies and is very poor. there are no jobs so the dad has to go into the southern colonies to get a job for a few months. the dad promises that he will be back in time for christmas, but the only problem is, a snow storm hits and he has to battle to get home.
