Block 3/4 Only
This week we will begin our writing portfolios. These are folders in which you will keep your writing assignments. You will reflect on each assignment and conference with me about your work in the hopes that you improve as a writer this school year. I will be using the SIX TRAITS of writing to grade you. You should be very familiar with these traits: Ideas/Content, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions.
For this blog post please explain in detail which of these traits is your strength and why. Then describe which of these traits you would most like to improve over the school year.
Example Response:
As a writer I am strongest in voice. I believe my voice comes across in a unique way in my writing. However, the area I am weakest in is Organization. When I am not careful, my ideas seem scattered and not well- put together so this is the area I will focus on improving this year.
For me as a writer I think that my my Sentence Fluency because I mark off at points so my sentences aren't to long or short and I keep it intresting. Sadly though, my Voice is the weakest in all of these six traits because I don't stand out in what I am trying to come across in an Idea or Thought.

My best trait as a writer is probably organization because i always have a method of how i write and a plan of where i put all my ideas. My worst trait as a writer that i would like to improve upon is probably voice because i am better at writing factual essays because, to me, it seems cheesy when i put random dialogue in my essays.-Wendy Fillman
ReplyDeleteAs i writer i am good at length most of the time. when i know the subject im writing about all the words just flow through my mind and onto the paper but i have a problem with getting them all to sound good together.
ReplyDeleteMy best trait as a writer would probley be organization because typiclly i use a web to organize my thoughts. the one i am focusing on this year would be senence fluncy because i seem to stop in the middle of sentences or have run on sentences
ReplyDeleteI am srongest in orginization. my idea's are very neat and well put together. my weakes subjuct is sentance fluency. some times i write to fast or to slow and my sentances blur together or i just completly forget a sentence.
ReplyDeleteMy best trait is probly my ideas because I am creative rather then all of the other traits. But I think that my sentence fluncy is probly the worst out of all the traits because I am not that good of a speller and some times my gramer is not that good to. So this year I am going to work on my sentence fluncy and see if that gets me a beter grade.
ReplyDeletemy strongest trait is sentence fluency because most of my sentences are varied in length and don't run on. my worst trait is probably voice because i don't quite understand what it means. i would like to improve on my voice.
ReplyDeleteAs a writer I do my best in voice, from all the six traits. I think this because i feel I can make my words stand out. Though my weakest trait is proabley sentece fluency because my senteces most of the time are the same length with many run-on sentece.I hope this year I can improve on my traits finely.

As a writer I think I am strong in voice, conventions, and sentence fluency. In all the other subjects except for ideas/content I think I do fairly well. Ideas/content will be my main focus for the year and will act as my point of improvment. Throughout the year I also hope to practice the other traits as well but they are not my main concerns.

As a writer I believe that I am the strongest in voice. I also think that I do well in ideas. I do need to improve in organisation because I seem scatterd when I write and also in convention and spelling which I am not very good at. I hope to improve throughout the year.

ReplyDeleteI think ihave a great voice and i get my point out very clearly. I think that my words can affect people in many ways. My conventions and organizations are off. I love to write stories and i guess the story is just important and if someone can read the story than im good!
As a writer, I think I am most strong in sentence fluency, because I use various lengths of sentences. Some sentences long, some short, all mixed together. My weakest trait I think is voice, because sometimes I just write to make it correct, for example like conventions. I think i need to put my personality out on my writing more.

Usually, as a writer, my ideas are very good but the life graph could have seen better. I am OK at organizations and conventions. My weakest is sentence fluency. I need to really know when to stop and make a new sentence sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI can wirte and ideas come flowing. I must atment that I need to work on my word choice. I know it is important to work on the word choice. I hope that when this year is over I will have worked on word choice enough that I have concored my goal.
ReplyDeleteI believe voice is my strongest trait because I try to make my writing sound like me, but I NEED to make an improvement in Sentence fluency because I tend to write alot of run-ons.

In sixth grade my Ideas and conventions were not really my strongest, so I decided to pay the most attention to it. This was a mistake because at the time, while my voice was the strongest, I didn't pay much attention to it. This lead to a decrease in the amount of effort I put into my voice. Now my Ideas/Content are good but now I also need to work on my voice. This year I would like to improve my voice the most.

As a writer I am strongest in ideas and content because when I write I take the time to think about what I am writing. I think that my weakest writning trait in the 6 writing traits is voice. When I write and try to put voice into writing it sounds like I am of a younger age. Hope to get better at voice this year but it sounds like it will take some time

I think I am stongest in organzation because I always try to keep the facts that are simular together. I need to improve on my word choice because I usually use the same words but I try to change the words I just can't think of the right word.
ReplyDeleteAs a writer i am probably best at organization i can always put things in the right spot so it sounds right. what i need to improve on is choosing the best of ideas that i can think of for my topic. -jordan carlson
ReplyDeleteMy strongest trait is organization because I don't start talking about something irrelevant. I also use a prewrite to get my thoughts in order. I'm not very good at sentenced fluency becuase I have trouble starting my sentences in different ways. I also tend to write really long run-on sentences.

I'm the best at ideas... i think. Because it may take me awile to think of things, but i always come up with good ideas. I'm also really good at word choice. i like looking up words in the thesaurus and adding more detail for a better picture in your mind.
ReplyDeleteMy best trait as a writer is sentence fluency. Im good at not making all my sentences really short or to long i vary them. The trait i want to work on over the year is ideas because i have an hard time comming up with ideas to start the paper.
ReplyDeleteI think that as a writer i am strongest in organization. i think that i do need to work on ideas and word choice. i tend to run out of ideas for creative words and ideas to make my personality stand out.

I am an imaginative person; being this, my strongest writing area is Ideas/Content. I'm strong in this sectrion of writing because I can come up with great topics and how to portray them. The only thing is, is that my sentence fluency is moderately awful. The way I write and how my writing sounds needs some work. This year I would like to improve my sentence fluency.
